July 26, 2025 ~ Sharman Davenport, president and CEO of Turning Point in Macomb County, is celebrating its 45th anniversary and serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Davenport’s career started at Haven, another domestic violence agency, and all her work since has focused on assisting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and homelessness. Turning Point is the only comprehensive service agency in Macomb County, offering various programs, including shelter, a 24-hour hotline, counseling, and housing. The agency also operates a PPO office for protection orders and provides forensic nurse examinations for survivors of sexual assault and non-fatal strangulation in both Macomb and St. Clair counties. The organization provides services to over 27,000 survivors and community members annually and conducts community education for schools, police, and medical staff.
